Phnom Penh

Today we were on the 7:30 bus to Phnom Penh. It was a 6 hour ride as the road was a bit narrow and there were parts that were not paved. Lots of rice farms along the way, everything is still flat for as far as on can see. The farmers all along the highway are drying rice on the tarps. We stopped in a town, can't remember the name, but it was the first time we saw a vendor with nothing but bugs and spiders. Check out the pictures. The fellow eating the spider is from Boston. He said it was tasty. Egads!
Phnom Penh is situated on the Mekong river. There is a wide promenade that follows the river allowing one to go for a stroll. We walked through a market a block from our hotel. It was extremely busy and packed with narrow isle ways and under the canopies it felt like we were in sauna. After seeing the meats, living here would definitely turn me into a vegetarian. Yuk! The fruits and vegetables look great.
On the roof across from our hotel was a monkey.
