Eating too much

Ok, we officially are eating way too much! Check out the breakfast included with our room and yes Marie ate it all! LOL Omelette with potatoes (french fries) and a baguette, vietnamese pineapple pancake, a variety of fruit and coffee. An easy day wandering, to digest our breakfast, and discovering the town. Walking about the streets of Hoi An is very interesting. Lots of spots to stop and enjoy a beverage while taking in the life of the town.
Later in the day we noticed the river was substantially higher actually flowing over. We have read that this is common, especially during heavy rains when a lot of the water front shops end up with some flooding.
The ladies in the shop are embroidering artistic designs on silk or linen.
The guys are carving the root of the bamboo.
Stopped for a coffee where the table centre piece was a water glass with two small fish. Pay attention to which glass you drink from, especially you Terry! LOL. Cough, choke! Make sure to say, "Here's looking at you".
Puppy running free, bird not so lucky.
On returning to our hotel we were greeted by the staff and the owner (a very pleasant lady) setting up a buffet of traditional Vietnamese foods. They had organized this for all the guests. Wow! Nice surprise! We joined everyone in sampling banana flower salad, lotus plant paste, Vietnamese pancakes which we rolled up in rice paper along with basil, cilantro and lettuce and then dip it peanut sauce. Pork spring rolls, donut filled with bean paste (sweet), rice dough bun filled with sweet peanuts, a bean paste wrapped around cooked tapioca root all wrapped in bamboo leaves, glutinous rice dumplings and more. It was a wonderful dinner. I'll try to figure out what we actually ate, but for now all we have are the above descriptions and Marie's photos.
