Getting Our Bearings

Back up to the 30th. We went with a Tuk Tuk towards Saladan to locate the gym. Actually, we were looking for the Muay Thai gym. The driver dropped us at the fitness centre and we soon learned there were two gyms, this one with weights and machines for fitness and the other for training in Muay Thai. We over shot the Muay Thai gym by about three kilometres. Perhaps a good thing as weights I was familiar with, Muay Thai not really.
We saw a small side road which led us to a community of beach shacks along he ocean. Some were called resorts. A nice area, mostly a lot of youth in their 20's. We met a gal from Sweden and asked her how she liked the area (remember we were looking for a long term stay). She told us about the place and also that she was staying here with her Thai boyfriend. We asked her if she was heading back to Sweden to which she replied she now has a nine Month old baby with her unemployed Thai boyfriend. We wished her well and headed back to the main road. We came across a roadside food stand where a Thai guy (hey it rhymes) had a pot full of boiling soup broth.
Check out all the smudge marks on the glass where the noodles are kept. Yuck! We decided to give it a try and ordered up chicken soup with glass noodles. It was quite tasty and for 40 baht did a good job of satisfying Marie's hunger for Thai food. Full we took another Tuk Tuk home.
